Dresden enjoyed an astonishing musical life in the mid-eighteenth century. The patronage of successive monarchs ushered in a new age of music, painting, architecture, and technology in Dresden, rivaling the cultural and political might of Louis XIV of France. Chamber music in this city was written for and performed by the finest players in Europe. In the Dresden archives is a collection of musical works from the best composers in Europe, arranged for two harpsichords. These were performed en chambre by the king and his court composer.
Duo harpsichord team Beverly Biggs and Elaine Funaro will perform gems from this collection by Pleyel and Haydn. For further details, check back in mid-summer, 2018.
Suggested parking in the adjacent Morehead Planetarium lot. There are also two parking decks and a parking lot in the East 100 block of Rosemary Street.
